Elder Richard Penton is married to a wonderful and beautiful saint and business woman, Leta Penton for nearly 30 years. Their union has brought three great and talented young men into this world Charles (A.K.A. Chucky) Richard Jr. and Clemmie. Elder Richard Penton experience with the Church of God In Christ mirrors his life span of 56 years. At an early age he was privileged to be exposed to great teachers of the Bible. In his early years, the Late Bishop John W. White one of the C.O.G.I.C. original General Board Members and renown for his Godly wisdom influenced his life tremendously. In his early twenties he moved to Tacoma from New York City . It was then that he became reacquainted with teachings of his earlier years and accepted the Lord into life as a young man at Eastside Community Church under another great teacher and community leader, Dr. Alfred C. Davis Sr. There at Eastside he served in many capacities during his 26 year tenure to include: Sunday School Superintendent, President of Y.P.W.W., Chairman of Deacon Board, Treasurer, Member of the choir, Member of Trustee Board, and Administrative Assistant to Pastor Davis. In 2001, he felt the call to assist the dynamic and visionary leader, his brother Dr. John Wayne Penton Sr. at Roosevelt Heights C.O.G.I.C. Currently at Roosevelt Heights he serves as a Sunday School Teacher, Board Trustee, Building Fund Committee Member, and Administrative Assistant.  In District #3 he served over four years as the President of the Y.P.WW made numerous presentations during the district institute hour.  His secular and community service include: Past Board Member of Merle Palmer Scholarship Fund, Past Board member of the African American Museum, Past President Black Awareness Committee at Washington State University.   Currently he is a member of Impact Capital Loan and Investment Committee and Senior Manager of Resource Allocation Unit at the Department of Commerce.
